Our mission at Just Drive Safe is to make the roadways a safer place — period. To make safe driving as routine as turning on the ignition in a car.
We have created a platform, which is the premier place for collaboration and change, not only to address the dangers we face while getting behind the wheel, but also to develop and implement innovative and practical solutions.
JustDriveSafe is an Education, Advocacy, and Technology hub for individuals and organizations committed to making the roadways a safer place. Our three Core Values of Awareness, Integrity, and Respect permeate everything we do at JustDriveSafe as we breathe A.I.R. to the roadways.
We are committed to addressing chronically overlooked issues, shedding light on just how it effects all of us – whether we are on the road or not.
So many of these accident causing behaviors are preventable and the dangerous situations they create, are so much more than just texting or talking on the phone on the road. You’ve seen the conditions frequently in the car next to you. It’s eating, shaving, applying makeup and even reading newspapers, magazines and work memos. It’s playing with apps and games on your iPad, searching for music, driving aggressively, consuming alcohol or mind altering substances, and even having a heated conversation with the person next to you. All are classified as distracted driving.
The reality is, while we have been behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, we have all been distracted at one time or another. Together we can change this.
We share the road, we share the responsibility.

DRINKING & DRIVING
WHAT HAPPENED – As Philip Huml says, “On March 5th 2012, I stepped out of the barber shop onto the sidewalk after getting my hair cut and was hit by an SUV. A simple stroll on the sidewalk instantly changed my life forever.”
The “accident,” or as a friend of mine likes to call it, “the insult,” had me fighting for my life, struggling just to breath and ultimately, survive. For months, I was unable to feed myself, change my clothing and in general normally function as the man I once was. As a 38-year-old man, having to learn how to communicate, walk and even go to the bathroom again became a humbling experience. Through my recovery I struggled with anger and depression daily. I had always lived my life to the fullest, never thinking about just how fragile and fleeting life really is. Waking up one day I realized, what if I can take my darkest moment and turn it into my greatest gift.
Philip’s story is one of overcoming the unexpected, going from an active, hearty and healthy man about town, to rehabilitation patient after being struck by an SUV while standing on the sidewalk.
Philip is the inspiration for all we do at Just Drive Safe.
